HydroSurv establishes Atlantic Canadian subsidiary

HydroSurv, an innovator in Uncrewed Surface Vehicle (USV) technology for hydrographic and environmental survey, today announces ambitious expansion plans supported by its new subsidiary venture established in Atlantic Canada, which will deliver the company’s most advanced USV platforms to date.

After entering the USV market in 2019 from its home market in the UK, HydroSurv has expanded sensibly over the past two years, developing a range of four electric and hybrid USV platforms from 1.6 – 5.7m in length and securing a number of leading customers and industry partners within the UK and Europe. The new venture will enable HydroSurv to extend the reach of its products into the Americas, delivering new projects for its key customers.

Strengthening it’s position as part of a thriving ecosystem of world-leading ocean tech companies, HydroSurv’s new venture will initially operate from the Centre for Ocean Ventures and Entrepreneurship (COVE) in Halifax, Nova Scotia. The company is accelerating its technical development through collaborative projects, with both Canadian and north west European marine technologists.

Supported by new executive and technical hires, the Canadian venture will not only expand HydroSurv’s product footprint, but enable the company to grow by drawing upon the well established ocean technology skills base, centred around Halifax.

It’s an exciting time for HydroSurv as we announce that we have now established a Canadian subsidiary. Halifax shares many similarities with our home market in terms of the strong cluster for marine technology, and the new venture will allow the company to access the talent, partnership and investment we need to grow the business. Setting up our operation at COVE was an easy decision, and we’re looking forward to kicking off new projects which will be announced shortly
