HydroSurv collaborates with C3IA solutions to demonstrate Silvus StreamCaster radios

This month, HydroSurv has collaborated with Mobile Ad-hoc Networking (MANET) specialists C3IA Solutions to demonstrate the deployment of Silvus StreamCaster radio equipment to enable a robust, resilient, high-bandwidth solution for offshore USV voice and data communications.

The equipment was deployed on HydroSurv’s newest REAV-16 Uncrewed Surface Vehicle (USV Axe) for hydrographic surveying which had been mobilised to carry out routine bathymetric monitoring surveys at Pevensey Bay, East Sussex.

With its origins in tactical use, the StreamCaster was first introduced in 2011, but remains an industry-leading solution today in high-stakes industry applications including military, law-enforcement and broadcast. The latest generation of radio, tested on USV Axe represents continual improvement in size, weight, power, efficiency, cost and capability.

Following successful trials of the system, HydroSurv now expects to make the Silvus IP radio solution an option available on its entire range of USV platforms, including the first REAV-60 long-endurance platform scheduled to make its first appearance later in 2021.
